Getting to Selong Belanak

Lombok International Airport (airport code LOP), near Praya, is the main gateway to the island and sits roughly 30–45 minutes by road from Selong Belanak. It handles direct domestic flights from Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali, plus some international connections from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

From the terminal, the simplest way to reach Selong Belanak is a pre-booked private transfer or an airport taxi. Arranging a car in advance is worth it — it saves haggling on arrival and means a driver is waiting even if your flight lands late.

Fast boats link Bali (departing Padang Bai or Serangan) and the Gili Islands to Lombok, usually arriving at Bangsal or Senggigi in the island’s northwest. It’s a scenic option if you’re combining Selong Belanak with time in Bali or the Gilis.

Bear in mind the boat is only part of the journey: from those northern harbours it’s roughly a 2–2.5 hour drive south to Selong Belanak, so factor in a transfer at the other end.

The public car-and-passenger ferry runs between Padang Bai (Bali) and Lembar (Lombok), taking around 4–5 hours. It’s the most economical way across, though also the slowest, and departure times can be relaxed.

From Lembar, Selong Belanak is about 1.5 hours by car. This route suits travellers on a tight budget or anyone bringing a vehicle across.

However you reach Lombok, the last stretch to Selong Belanak is best done by private car or scooter. Taxis and ride-hailing apps operate around the airport and main towns, but coverage thins out in rural areas, so it pays to book a transfer ahead.

If you’re staying a while, many visitors arrange airport pickup through their accommodation and then rent a scooter locally to get around once they’ve settled in.
