What is the SBCA?
The Selong Belanak Community Association (SBCA), also known as Lembaga Peduli Selong Belanak, is a member-supported local organisation focused on environmental sustainability, waste management and community development.
Founded on World Cleanup Day in 2018, the association brings residents, local businesses and visitors together around a simple goal: a cleaner, healthier Selong Belanak for the people who live here now and for future generations.
A practical zero-waste programme
The programme combines waste prevention, sorting, collection and recycling with education and community outreach. Its work is designed to reduce rubbish reaching beaches, waterways or informal burning.

What the programme does
Waste bins and managed collection
Homes and businesses can purchase or sponsor an SBCA bin and contribute to its managed collection system, including collection oversight and bin cleaning.
Community clean-ups
Clean-ups give local residents, businesses and visiting travellers a direct way to help care for the beach and village. Check the official schedule before attending, as dates and meeting arrangements can change.
Education and outreach
The SBCA works with adults and children to build understanding of waste, health and hygiene. It also supports community activities connected with responsible waste management.
Skills and sustainability training
Programmes have included waste sorting, composting, EcoBrick building, recycled art and other practical approaches that members, staff and volunteers can use locally.
