The consistent white-water break and sandy bottom make it an ideal, low-pressure place to build confidence — then grab a cold coconut and watch the next set roll in.

At the western end of the bay, near the warungs and surf schools like Mul’s and Turtle Surf, the whitewater is gentle and forgiving — waist-deep water and slow-breaking waves that make it easy to find your feet. Move east along the bay and the wave faces steepen, giving intermediates longer rides and faster take-offs; on mid-to-high tide, small reef setups can reward advanced surfers, especially when a southern swell arrives.

The bay is also a handy base for nearby breaks — Mawi (an advanced reef break) and Serangan (intermediate-friendly when small). With board rentals, instructors and beach cafés steps from the water, it suits every level.
